Not to be confused with the other Georgia, this Trans-Caucasian country has a rich medieval history, and I’m wearing it. Learning from warriors in 200 year old uniforms, toasting a sweet wine, getting soaked and scrubbed in ancient bathhouses, it’s a fanboy’s dream as Georgia and its capital Tbilisi deliver a past, present and future.
I was drinking rum at a bar after sandboarding down an active volcano for the second time, as one does, and decided it was the perfect time to reflect on real-estate, backpacker trends, eco-tourism, and the ethics behind Poverty Tourism. See-sawing between crater lakes, poverty, fun and despair, Nicaragua remains off the beaten path, but not probably not for much longer.
A new season of travel begins in the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, where I try on a new hat and channel my inner cowboy, before taking to the skies for an adventure called heli-yoga. Waxing on the merits of beef, oil, nature and travel, we start this report with a wee bit of cow fisting.
