The sun came out to play in the gorgeous Abel Tasman National Park, allowing Captain Gonzo to take the wheel. Along the West Coast, New Zealand’s famous views strutted their stuff, like girls on the bar in Baz Vegas. Digging into the blue ice of the Franz Josef Glacier, I hit Queenstown to feed my flock. He skydives from 12000ft. He rafts over the world’s highest commercial Grade 5 waterfall. He straps himself into a rubber ball to become a human sock. It was supposed to be quiet week in the run-up to the insanity of the Great Gonzo Blowout, but I ended up partying off my nut during Australia Day, sizzling on Coogee Bay, basking in the glow of Buddhas before heading off to Auckland, where I found myself leaping off the highest tower in the southern hemisphere.
