I was only in the country for a week, but below are some of the places I ate at, and some of the things I did. When I think back to those fajita chiles, I feel a burn in all the wrong places, if you know what I mean.

Xela (Quetzaltenango)

Cardinali - Admittedly it caters to a mostly gringo clientele, and the prices mirror those in North America (which is weird, because this is Guatemala), but you can't argue with the perfect pizza, or $2 glasses of good house wine, or thousands of bottles of wine serving as decoration, or, red checkered tablecloths and a monster bottle of Tabasco. Oh, and the salads are huge too. If you feel like a little Italy in Central America, look no further than a few blocks off the main plaza. 14 Ave 3-25 Zona 1, T: 761.0924

Panajachel

Sunset Cafe - It's rare to find a waterfront bar/restaurant with the right food for the right view with the right music and the the right service level. The Mexican menu serves it like its meant to be served (oh guacomole, how I love thee), the drinks are fresh (ace margheritas), and the latinto chillout soundtrack is only turned off for the gruffy voiced troubador to play his guitar. All gringo clientele, but who cares, the Sunset Cafe will make you feel lucky. At the bottom of the main strip, overlooking the lake.
