Eat, Sleep, Play - Fiji

Admittedly, this will be useless to anyone unless they find themselves, like me, with two days to kill in a cyclone as close to the airport in Nadi as possible. Although I did like the Fiji-time laid-backness of the locals, as well as the most killer afros I’ve seen since Superfly. Still, in the interests of finishing what’s I’ve started….

EAT

Nadi

This is going to sound terribly lame, but seriously, I had one of the best pizzas of the entire trip at Viva Pizzeria at the airport. I ordered the Indian pizza, with plenty pineapple, coriander, fresh chillies, thin, crispy crust. So, presuming the only reason you’re looking at this is because you’re stuck at the airport too (or looking for the secret code which unravels the truth behind the Knights Templar), get yourself a pizza and skip the crud food on the plane.

SLEEP

Nadi

Nomad Skylodge
- They Fijians know that most people are flying in and want to get the hell out to the islands. But this might take a day or so to organize so there a couple resort airport hotels for budget travellers and backpackers. I called the Aquarius Hotel but they only had a bunk in a big dorm, so I went with the Nomad chain for the luxury of a 4-bed dorm with en-suite bathroom and air conditioning. Comfy beds too. Free airport shuttle, acceptable restaurant if a little pricey, friendly agency service. The place was a little soulless, like any hotel airport, and the rain didn’t help relaxing by the pool. But it was comfy and friendly up front, so no complaints.
