I saw your bit on hot springs on the sympatico site.

You missed one of the very best.

BANOS It is in equador not far for Quito.

It is a little local town with one of the best springs I have ever encountered.
The source is quite high up and falls down on to a very hudge lava stone.
By the time the water is down to the lava stone it is no longer water but is in the form of a mist or fog. Temperature of the fog is just over 100 degrees F.It is like walking into a steam fog sauna where you can not see much in front of you. Just the sight is very impressive.

The water runs off into pools. The waters are very slightly mineralized and clear.There are several local pools developed off it. The pools baths are locally developed like a series of municipal swimming pools. Mostly locals and most wore some sort of bathing suit. People of all ages. Quite a few bodies but not crowded.
